The Geographic Regions Of The World

The geographic regions of the world can be divided into ten regions: Africa, Asia, Central America, Eastern Europe, European Union, Middle East, North America, Oceania, South America, and the Caribbean.

There are many ways to organize the world and every single country in it. One of the ways in which to do that is by geographic regions. So, what are the geographic regions of the world?

What Are The Geographic Regions of the World?

The world can be divided into the following geographical regions:

Africa

With each new day in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing he must outrun the fastest lion or perish. At the same time, a lion stirs and stretches, knowing he must outrun the fastest gazelle or starve. It’s no different for the human race. Whether you consider yourself a gazalle or a lion, you have to run faster than others to survive. – Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

The Americas

A new bubble will replace the old one. A new technology will come along to fix the messes we made with the last one. In a way, that is the story of the settling of the Americas, the supposedly inexhaustible frontier to which Europeans escaped. – Naomi Klein

Although the Americas are just divided in two continents (North and South America), the Americas can be further divided into four separate geographical regions:

The geographical regions of Central America and the Caribbean are part of the continent of North America.

Asia

In Asia, red is the color of joy; red is the color of festivities and of celebration. In Chinese culture, blue is the color of mourning. – Vincent Tan

Asia is one of the few continents that are not divided into further geographical regions, although some people talk about West and East Asia or near east and far east from a historically Eurocentric perspective.

Europe

The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries. – James Madison

Here is the list of countries in the European geographical region:

European Union:

“The European Union is not only a great idea, but it’s also an idea we must keep working on.” — Sebastian Kurz

Here are the member states of the European Union:

These days Europe is divided into the European Union and the rest of the countries. An older division that is still sometimes used but has gradually become more irrelevant since the 1990s is that between Western and Eastern Europe. Western Europe used to refer to the capitalist countries in the continent, while the communist states used to be referred to as Eastern Europe but this distinction became irrelevant after the collapse of the USSR, the fall of communism in Europe and the reunification of Germany.

Middle East

I love the Middle East. My earliest childhood memories are of Jerusalem. I love the colors and smells and cadence of Arabic spoken in the streets of Cairo or Beirut. I also love the modernity and verve of Tel Aviv. – Kai Bird

Oceania

“I wonder if it is Australia’s great distance from more populated land masses that allows its inhabitants to be left to their own devices, to be incredibly creative and, at times, to be wonderfully weird.” — Henry Rollins
