Looking at the state map and its location in India, it becomes clear that Goa is a privileged place. Goa also has some of the best beaches in India and in the world.
Goa is a state in India, which sits in the coastal region of the Konkan.
Goa is bordered by the state of Karnataka to the east and south, Maharashtra to the north, and the Arabian Sea to the west. Goa is the smallest state in India and the fourth smallest by population.
Although the largest city in the state is Vasco da Gama (named after the legendary Portuguese explorer), state the capital is Panaji.
Goa was a Portuguese province since the arrival of Europeans to the region for hundreds of years until it was annexed by India in 1961.
Because of its gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife, and historical and architectural heritage, Goa has become a hotspot for both domestic and international tourists.
Goa has a coastline of 105 km (65 miles), along which there are many stunning beaches. One of the best beaches is Morjim.
Morjim is located in the far north of Goa. This beach is famous for being a nesting site for olive ridley sea turtles.
The beach is among the quietest in the state because of its relative isolation but you will find there everything that you would expect from a well-equipped beach here: shacks, beach, bars, etc.
Not far from Morjim sits another wonderful beach: Baga.

Despite this proximity, Baga is totally different. If you want to have great infrastructure and a vibrant atmosphere, then Baga may just be the place for you.
Baga is a busy beach with golden sand.
Candolim and Calangute
But if you want to know one of the most popular beaches in the whole state, you should visit Candolim and Calangute.
What makes this beach so popular is a combination of its natural beauty, its excellent infrastructure, the friendly atmosphere of its resorts, and its charming beach shacks.
If there is a beach that encapsulates what most people think of Goa, that is the languid and relaxing Sinquerim.
This beach is just too stunning for words. All you need is a swimsuit and a nice smooth towel. Everything else you will be able to get right there. Just sit back and enjoy the ocean view and the tall palm trees.
Anjuna and Vagator
The neighboring beaches of Anjuna and Vagator may not be the largest or most spectacular beaches in Goa. Let’s face it, the state standards are extremely high.
But these cozy beaches have a very particular charm. This spot is located between steep cliffs dotted with pine and palm trees and the ocean.
Anjuna and Vagator are perfectly good beaches to visit. But what makes them so celebrated are their breathtaking sunsets.
Many people think of the Southern beaches in the state as quiet and underdeveloped but there is one beach that is the exception that breaks the rule, that is Colva.
Although this area is still populated by local fishermen who go out to sea every day, it is also popular with beachgoers, particularly those who enjoy paragliding and other exciting beach activities.

For many people, Palolem is the finest beach in the whole of Goa. And it is easy to see why. This gorgeous beach is backed by tall palm trees.
Although the beach had a reputation of being sedated and underdeveloped, this has changed gradually over the years. Luckily, Palolem has lost none of its charm in the process.
It not only continues to be gorgeous, but it is also one of the safest swimming spots in Goa.
Palolem is a beach worth visiting whether you like to sunbathe, swim, or enjoy the best local cuisine has to offer visitors.
But if there is a beach that is famous for its culinary offerings, that is probably Arossim.
This gorgeous stretch of clean golden sand has some of the best beach huts in Goa. They tend to be located south of the beach.
But there is a lot more that can be done in Arossim, beyond enjoying some delicious Goan food. You could also sunbathe or go for a refreshing swim in the ocean.
