Take a look at the map of Maine’s coastline and you’ll notice it’s dotted with small towns and beautiful rocky beaches. The state of Maine has 3,478 miles of coastline, which is actually more than California’s coast, so it is safe to assume there are quite a few towns in the entire state as well.
The only two states that have more coastline are Louisiana and Florida, which isn’t surprising when you think about the Louisiana bayou’s and Florida being surrounded by water on almost all sides of the state. For a complete list of the towns in the state of Maine, as well as a map of the state and its coastline, check out this guide.
There’s a quality of life in Maine which is this singular and unique. I think. It’s absolutely a world onto itself. – Jamie Wyeth
Map of Maine: Its Coast And Towns
Maine is a beautiful state up in New England that is about as north as you can go in the continental 48 states. You can see in the map above that the coastline is massive, and if you count all of the island’s landmass, then Maine was a coastline of well over 5,000 miles. to put that into perspective the distance between Los Angeles, California and New York City, New York is 2,797 miles. You could drive from LA to NYC and back again in the same mileage that it would take you to travel all of Maine’s coastline.
“I felt like I’d been misplaced in the cosmos and I belonged in Maine.” — Terry Goodkind
